Nashville Country Singers

Country singers butchering the Hits of '69.

I've heard some good singers occasionally screw up a word or two in a cover song, but "Hits of '69" by the Nashville Country Singers takes the cake. Apparently, nobody bothered to give these folks copies of the lyrics to the songs they were expected to sing. Combine that with flat music and off-key vocals and you have what was certainly one of the most exciting new albums of the year.

Check out how the Country Singers butcher two of my favorite songs. On "Aquarius", the moon is no longer in the seventh house, but the serpent's house. Then the phrase "no more falsehoods or derisions" somehow becomes -- get this -- "thunderbolts of long duration". Whoa! But that's nothing compared to what they do to "Proud Mary". Incredibly, they don't even sing the phrase "Proud Mary" once throughout the entire song. Among other flubs, these guys "seen a lotta plays in Memphis" and "Humped a lotta grain in New Orleans". I don't know what they were taking in Nashville back in 1969 but I sure want some for my next party.

I am in agreement with all these guys and gals on here country just ain't country anymore. At least not what I grew up on. Don't get me wrong I like Carrie just fine but since when can an american idol winner be country. At least though people, this happened before. Remmeber Kenny rogers and those guys they were more pop than country course it was 70/s pop. Then country swung back where it is supposed to be with Randy Travis Alan jackson Clint black And the legendary George Strait. What we gota do is start buying real country again and complaining to the radio stations and push come to shove just turn the Crap ( country RAP) off maybe they'll get the hint. (07-08-2006)

Ive loved country scince i was little and i still do. Country songs tell how you feel. I wiil always love country till the day I die.A nd if your a real cowboy or girl you dont buy thoes cheap stringy cowboy hats that you can get at the stores 4 only a couple bucks you buy the real ones. Buying the cheap hats just make you a poser stop being someone your not. (06-28-2006)

Hey its me again and I know its been a while since I posted anything in here. I just thought Id drop by to invite some people to listen to my stuff on myspace...The song I posted the lyrics to on here last year is on my myspace profile. And I as a lot of us are am a big hip hop fan as well.. And as many bars as I go to and as much dj work as I do I thought itd be a dandy idea to use my mixing talents to create a new dance mix that plays all over south Oklahoma now.. Id like for people all over to hear it..Its called "Cowgirls" and its a country/hip hop floor shaker. Its an instrumental for the most part but Ive been invited to do a collob with rapper "Cadilliac Zack" so we will be adding the re-vamped version to myspace soon.."Cadillac Zack" will add the lyrics and rap on the track and then Ill sing the hook...Check it out and leave me a comment I want to know if the majority of the people think its cool...(crank up your speakers) Thanks Frank! Ill be back soon!

Hey guy,,,I know a real cowboy may have stretched fences and hearded cattle.. But let me just say that in this day and age thanks to the evolution of music and the times we live in...If somebody wants to be a cowboy or a cowgirl, I think its their peogative. I believe its a strong lifestyle and it says a lot about a person..Im not a real cowboy persay..But I think Tims plastic cowboy hat is cool and if I could pull that look off Id be pimpin it too! I watched the country music awards last night but it will be the last time, if they call that country music well they've never listened to Alan Jackson, Vince Gill & some on the older ones sing, its was terrible. The song writing is terrible too, there was probably the whole evening was only 2 good songs played or sung, what's tha matter with them these days, are they just sitting down & writing about anything, just for the sake of writing a song, & the singers don't have any distinctive voices anymore, they all sound alike & the songs sound alike too.
Very disappointed about it all, I've always been a true hard country fan, but not of this stuff thats coming out now. (05-24-2006)

i disagree with all these people who are liek counrty isnt counrty n e more bc it is. i mean everybody thinks it is all this hillybilly shit but it isnt. country is gonna be the next HUGE thing. it will beat out rap and pop and rock. itll be HUGE! expessially in minnesota. it is already getting big! and everybody i talk to more then half of the ppl HATE country music ((in my grade--8th) they think it is just people singing bout how HORRIBLE there life is! i kno crazy.. but every kinda music has some of that in it. my opinon is that counrty music is about
(a)love
(b)american (freedom, war, ext.)
(c)havin fun (dricken dancin)
(d)family
(e)and yea some sad stuff (people dyin, love gone bad)

but that is my opinon and i bet alot of people on this site would agree with me.

but i LOVE country i might even go to country jam! i am FREAKIN EXCITED!

the best..

Sure wish we could go back a few years to when country singers could do just that. There's just no heart in this new rooter tooter rock of smashing instruments and dressing out of goodwill dumpsters. What happened to feelings and pride in the way you look. No wonder ol george dosen't feel well anymore
